About Us

About Swift Drain Pros, and how we are paid

A short page, because the important part is short. We publish research on water heaters, drains, sewer lines and leaks, we connect homeowners with independent companies that do the work, and we are paid for the introduction rather than for the size of the job.

Toll-free and answered every day of the year. The call reaches an independent licensed and insured plumbing company covering your area, we do not do the work ourselves, which is exactly why we can tell you when you do not need it.

What We Are

A referral service that repairs nothing

Swift Drain Pros is a referral and connection service for U.S. Homeowners. We are not a plumbing contractor, not an installer, not a manufacturer and not a supply house. Nobody here holds a wrench, and that is deliberate: a company that sells water heaters has a commercial reason to describe your drip as a replacement, and we wanted to write without that reason.

What we do is read the primary material, federal water-heater efficiency rules, EPA WaterSense and lead-in-plumbing guidance, manufacturer service literature and plumbing-code commentary, and turn it into pages that answer the question a homeowner actually typed, including when the honest answer is that they need to spend nothing.

The Bit Everyone Skips

How the money works

When we connect you with an independent local company, that company pays a referral fee. It is the same fee whether the visit ends in a replaced drain valve or a replaced water heater, and it does not change what you pay. There is no arrangement under which a larger job earns us more, and there is no company paying us for preferential placement in our research.

That structure is why this site is able to say, in writing, that a water heater leaking from the tank is a replacement rather than a repair, that a drain cleared with chemicals comes back, and that a slow drain in one fixture is usually that fixture rather than the sewer line. Each of those sentences costs a contractor money to say out loud.

Boundaries

What we will not do

Diagnose your plumbing

We can tell you what a symptom usually means and which part of the house it points at. We cannot tell you what is wrong with your water heater or your drain, because that takes a person at the fixture with a light and a gauge.

Publish invented averages

Plumbing prices vary too much by region, access and diagnosis for a national average to be useful. We say which faults are a small part, which are a visit, and which are a replacement, and we leave the number to the company that looked.

Promise anything for a contractor

We do not advertise free inspections, arrival times or workmanship on behalf of independent companies. What they offer is theirs to state and yours to confirm before work starts.

Our editorial standards set out how we source and check what we publish, and contact explains what we can and cannot help with.

Before you call anyone

The flat-fee match — we are paid for the introduction, not for the size of your job

Most plumbing advice is written by the company that wants to do the work. That is not a failing of the people who read it; it is a defect in who is talking: the diagnosis, the estimate and the invoice come from one party, and no amount of care on your side fixes that.

We are built the other way round. We do not repair, install or sell anything, so the payment reaches us when you are connected to a licensed, insured plumbing company — the same amount whether you need a two-dollar flapper or a new water heater. Nobody here has a reason to talk you into the larger number. You can check that rather than take it on trust: how we make money is written down, and this site keeps telling readers when not to buy. Why does not everyone work this way? Because a flat fee leaves money on the table every time the job turns out to be big.

Find your leak

Waiting is the one thing that actually costs money. A water heater that is leaking from the tank does not get better and does not wait for a convenient week; the water it lets go finds the floor, the drywall and whatever is stored below. A drain that backs up once backs up again, and the second time it is sewage. And if it turns out to be a flapper or a reset button, say so on the call. We will tell you, and that call earns us nothing.

Not for you if: you want a price over the phone — nobody honest gives one without seeing the pipe; you need a guarantee of arrival within the hour — we cannot promise that for a company we do not run; the building is commercial; or you would rather do it yourself, in which case the pages on this site are written so that you can.
